The National Sunrise Festival

The National Sunrise Festival, organized by Maharlika Artists and Writers Federation of Maharlika, is the first multifaceted culture-based roving arts and writers festival held annually in the different regions of the Philippines. The festival is a celebration of arts made possible by volunteerism and collaboration of cultural workers and amongst professional and upcoming artists in the country. As an alternative festival, the National Sunrise Festival site is kept free of smoking, alcohol and drugs, and non-biodegra- dable waste. Vegetarian food is served during the whole festival.

The purpose of the festival is to ensure a continuing national cultural movement to showcase all aspects of arts in the country: music, theater, literature, dance, film, photography, fashion, broadcast, graphic and digital arts, tattooing and indigenous martial arts. Activities of the three-day festival include an opening parade, art exhibits, creative writing, musical workshop, visual arts workshops, cultural fora, musical concerts, martial arts exhibition, indigenous fashion presentation, a tour of Iloilo, a trade fair and book sale. Kawangis of Palawan Since 2004, We have been performing Ethnic and Tribal music around the Philippines. Our group name "Kawangis" ng Tribu which means kagaya or katulad (like or alike the tribe) has dedicated itself in promoting our slowly fading cultural heritage and tradition for giving pride to our country, for uplifting and giving life back to the traditional rhythm of the Philippine Tribes, through playing and dancing their music. We have traveled to different places in the country, performing to various types of events such as Art and Music festivals, exhibits and gallery openings, conventions, seminars, welcome party, weddings, birthdays and other small events and sometimes volunteering in environment friendly events just to share our inherited talents and ideas to everyone.

We Respect the Earth. We Respect the Tribes. We Respect the beat of the Drum.

Unitiima of Manila Unitiima is an all-Filipino world music group whose sound emanates from percussion instruments profoundly mixing different drum patterns from Afro-Cuban, Samba to Filipino roots. The drumming methods provide a distinct groove true to its own Filipino brand of music. Unitiima was formed in 2005 and was originally an all-percussion group that evolved into a full-band; it performed its first gig during a poetry reading in Kolumn Bar organized by Lahi Productions and tested its waters by playing with reggae groups.

Heber Bartolome at ang Banyuhay ni HeberI started writing Pinoy Rock songs in 1974, however, Banyuhay was born only in 1975 when I called my brothers Levi and Jesse to form a group and join a band competition called "Battle of the Bands". The word BANYUHAY means metamorphosis and literally, it transformed the attitudes of the music industry from foreign to local music.

Glasspoint of Ilocos For some unknown reason, Glasspoint's persona and style of rock is an index of attitude, metaphor and poetry charged with guitar and electronically driven sound. With diverse musical background, Glasspoint is a synthesis of guys who in the midst of everything explored their own brand of music to express and discover.

Lolita Carbon of AsinAt age 10, Lolita won in the "Tita Betty Children's Show", a live radio talent show, and her winning song was "The Impossible Dream". She was dressed all in yellow. Ironically, said song became the signature song of Filipino martyr "Ninoy Aquino" when he was assassinated in 1983 and yellow also became the color of protest of the Filipino people until the bloodless "February Revolution" in 1986.
